Antique 122 yr old C. BRANNAM Art Nouveau Sgraffito Dragon / Griffin handle Pottery Vase of globular form. Double Dragon handles, surrounded by continuous scenes of swimming fish of different sizes amongst pond weeds, tones of blues, greens etc. Factory marks incised to base.
D (James Dewdney) 1898 16. Height: 42.5cm / 16.7" Diameter inc handles: 40cm / 15.75" Diameter: 32cm / 12.6" Rim Diameter: 18cm / 7" Very heavy, I estimate 10kg +. Given that the vase is 122 years old, the condition is Near to perfect as you will ever get with an item this old. Just a one very small chip / loss to one of the dragon handle tail fins, see images and a Tiny glaze chip to the rim that's it, see image. Both losses can easily be repaired by a competent person / specialist, and do not detract in anyway from the vase.
Please note that it looks like there are tiny glaze losses in some images but is not the case, as stated before there no surface glaze losses other than the 2 mentioned. Rare opportunity to aquire a scarce and spectacular Art Nouveau period vase of huge exhibition size proportions. Crafted by the most sought after of Brannam's designers - James Dewdney.
A similar much smaller C. Brannam vase is in the Barnstaple and North devon museum, along with other Brannam ware. Dispatched from my Spanish holiday home. Will be very well packed, soft foam, bubble, card, then double boxed with Fragile and keep upright stickers. Due to the current worldwide situation there can be delays outside of my control.(The declared value can be discussed). The item "HUGE Antique C.
